A LIVING HOPE
There isn’t much in this earthly life that we can hold onto.
Shelter…Homes can burn down in a fire, be broken down by storms, or broken into by thieves.
Stuff…fancy jewelry, cool cars, designer furniture, cold hard cash—it all eventually wears out and breaks down.
Relationships…even the people we love best can turn on us, letting jealousy take root, or struggling to forgive or see past differences.
What do we have that can never be taken from us? What can we grasp tightly to our hearts, knowing no person or circumstance can rob us of it?
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
—1 Peter 1:3
As we approach the Easter holiday at the end of March, Christian believers are thinking a lot about Jesus. He was a real person. He was born, lived an earthly life, and died on the cross at Calvary not because He deserved it, but for us; He took the punishment for our sins upon Himself, purchasing our redemption for all eternity.
But death was not the end for Jesus!
Three days after He was buried, Jesus Christ rose again. Death could not hold Him, and we celebrate Easter every year to commemorate the living hope we’ve been given through His death and resurrection.
No matter what your life looks like today, whether you are dealing with loss, heartache, financial, or relationship struggles, hold onto this: God loves you so much He sent Jesus to die for you. And the living hope we’ve found through Him won’t weaken or scatter, and it can never be taken away from us.
