No Hiding From His Light
The Bible uses light as a symbol and metaphor for various things. Christ Himself is the light of the world. He illuminates the darkness and the corners and hiding places we all find ourselves in.
This is where it starts in our story. Jesus loves the individual. When we fall into depression or our behavior causes us and others problems, He is there with His warm light.
John 8:12 says, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
If you feel you are in darkness, that life is just too difficult, consider that Jesus tells you that He is the source of peace and light. If this is too complex for you to understand, ask Jesus in a prayer to help you understand, and to come to you in your need.
He will.
In John 8, Jesus begins by telling a group of people that He is the light of the world. He is telling them that He was sent by His Father to rescue all of us from darkness.
You might consider today that He is telling you this, and that you are His audience of one.
Let’s pray. Lord, thank you for sending Your Son as light into our dark world. We are eternally grateful. Amen.

In The Beginning
It sounds like the beginning of a Stanley Kubrick movie.
A mass of matter—rock, dust, water—is swirling all around. Everything is mixed up. And nothing can really be seen because there is darkness everywhere!
This of course is the beginning of the Bible, in Genesis. The creation of the world is being described. It all begins with chaos.
But, the Spirit of God is hovering over the water.
John 8:12 says, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
We are told elsewhere in Scripture that God the Father gave Jesus the task of actually creating everything. It’s no wonder then that it was His light that suddenly appeared, taking away the darkness and chaos. In time, order was brought and the beauty of a new world shined like an emerald.
Is your world dark and chaotic today? If it is, stop what you’re doing and get to a quiet place. Tell Jesus the darkness is consuming you. As God’s Word tells us, He will come to you where you are.
He will throw open the windows in your life and let in the light!
Let’s pray. Lord, thank you for the beautiful world you made for us! Help us share your Light in a dark world. Amen.

Help Is On the Way
As 2020 began, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit eastern Turkey, killing 34 people. Over 1,500 buildings were damaged, and 76 had collapsed.
It was in one of these collapsed buildings that a young mother waited with her baby daughter.
A rescuer heard her cries and said, “Can you hear me? We are coming. We will save you.”
John 8:12 says, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
Those Turkish rescuers did indeed bring the mother and daughter out of the rubble and darkness. They survived.
Do you feel today that your life is dark? Has your world collapsed?
Cry out to Jesus. I’m serious. Cry out to him in your own way and believe that He is your Rescuer and He will save you.
He is coming.
Let’s pray. Lord, we are so thankful that you sent Your Son, Jesus, to rescue us through his sacrifice on the Cross. Amen.
Ambassadors of The Light
Are you eager to share Christ? If so, good for you! Your boldness is seen by God our Father, and it pleases him. Often though, we get a little frustrated, if we’re honest. It seems like not enough people are getting it. We want to see everyone find new life in Jesus! When we think about sharing the Good News, it’s important to remember that God is responsible for the harvest. We just have to be willing to be sent as his ambassadors. John 8:12 says, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” When Jesus spoke those words, some people believed in Him right away. Others were angry with Him. Others argued. If you feel pressure to lead others to Christ, relax. You are only responsible for fulfilling Jesus’s command to go make disciples for Him. He will take care of “the numbers.” This allows you to simply share His simple message. He will light your path if you let him. Let’s pray. Lord, there are so many people that need you. Help us with opportunities; we leave the results to you alone. Amen. How can we pray for you today? Members of Team Kerusso meet on a regular basis to pray, and we would be honored to pray for you.
