Pause & Pray

Pause & Pray

For a lot of people right now, that feels like a loaded question with a laundry list of answers: A global pandemic with no end in sight. Job concerns. Painful racial tension and unrest. Uncertainty about the new school year. We miss being together with loved ones. We miss in-person church. We miss normal!

What’s on your mind?

For a lot of people right now, that feels like a loaded question with a laundry list of answers: A global pandemic with no end in sight. Job concerns. Painful racial tension and unrest. Uncertainty about the new school year. We miss being together with loved ones. We miss in-person church. We miss normal!

Take a few deep breaths.

Let down your guard for a moment, and let all that stress and unease settle down. Now, imagine packing all those worries and concerns — your fears and frustrations — into a box, and handing it to the Lord.

Let that sense of peace sink way down deep into your soul, and just be for a few minutes. Don’t overthink it. Just set aside your frets and give your heart a break.

Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

You know who doesn’t bother with worry? Puppies!

Puppies don’t worry about their next meal, who they’ll play with, or where they’ll lay their heads at nap time. And you shouldn’t let the worries of this world rule the day, either.

Give every concern to God in prayer, and let Him take it from there. We aren’t meant to live in a constant state of fear, but to rest in the assurance that God is in control.
