How would the world change, if each of us committed to loving like Jesus?
Judging others is easy, and even comes naturally in our fallen state. So is turning a blind eye to the needs of those around us, and ignoring hurting people around the world, or even right next door.
As believers, though, we know there is another way! The Bible tells us God is love, and if we choose to model our character, and our heart, after Him — we can change the world. It’s really that simple.
First Corinthians 13:4-5 says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
There isn’t enough love in this world, but Jesus is big enough to heal the whole wide world — and we can be the bearer of His love to a world in need.
We embody God’s love when we choose...
- Patience instead of Frustration
- Kindness instead of Cruelty
- Humility over Pride
- Forgiveness in place of Holding a Grudge
We can look inward, insulating ourselves from the world and putting our own needs first. But just imagine the hearts we’ll heal, and the joy we’ll inspire, when we look outward and give God’s love away!
God’s love in action takes place in the form of seeking out ways to give back, whether that is generosity of time, talent, or treasure. Every single person you’ll ever meet desperately needs God’s love, and you might be the person the Lord has in mind to show another the love of Jesus.
When you choose to embody God’s selfless love to those around you, people will notice there is something different about you. When someone asks, “What makes you choose to love others so well,” tell them the beautiful truth: The Good News of Jesus Christ has made all the difference in your life, and it is a blessing to pass that love on to others.
