BERRYVILLE, AR – Kerusso, the #1 source for Christian T-shirts, surged to an 11th hour, first place finish in Group Category 8 of the 2011 Blue&You Fitness Challenge. 25 Kerusso employees participated in the eighth annual Fitness Challenge held March 1 through May 31. 183 groups participated in the exercise contest, sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Health, the Arkansas Department of Human Services and Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Winners were announced by Gina Pharis, a member of the Governor’s Council on Fitness and Executive Director of the Little Rock Marathon.
“Thousands of Americans decided to boost their fitness routine and give ‘Fitness a Pow!’ by participating in the Challenge this year, “said Richard Cooper, Vice President of Human Resources for Arkansas Blue Cross. A total of 183 groups representing large and small companies, banks, schools and universities, physician offices, churches, hospitals and state agencies made a commitment to defend fitness by spending some time exercising and reaping the rewards of better fitness. “The 9,997 individuals participating in those groups, logged 468,886 checkpoints during the contest…participants exercised at least 30 minutes, which translates – at a minimum – to 234,443 hours of exercise during the Challenge.”
Four measures determined winners including goal participation, exercise frequency, overall participation and persistency rate. “I am so proud of our Kerusso employees. They addressed the Challenge with the same discipline they utilize at work,” stated Kerusso CEO/President, Vic Kennett, “and that discipline translated into being the Category 8 group earning the most cumulative points and the overall winner in our Category.”
